Stafford, VA May 28, 2021: Trewon Technologies LLC (Trewon), a professional service firm providing research, evaluation, and IT services for diverse federal agencies is proud to announce one of its newest awards with the Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) in the U.S. Department of Education for Higher Education Act Title II Accountability.

Title II data provides crucial insight into the K–12 teacher pipeline for policymakers and educators at all levels. This data is even more critical because of the impact COVID-19 has had on the rates of retiring teachers and the increasing demands of improved schools and student achievement. So, it’s no surprise that the nation’s attention is turned to teacher preparation programs (TPPs) and states’ roles in ensuring new teachers have the knowledge and skills necessary to help all students achieve academically. In October 2008, Congress voiced its concern about the quality of teacher preparation by amending Title II of HEA. This program increases student achievement by elevating teacher and principal quality through recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies.

Trewon’s mission is to provide technical assistance, support and program monitoring, while enhancing data quality by modifying the survey, enhance training for data providers to answer their questions efficiently and improve data quality, implement proven communication protocols to provide respondents with the right information at the right time, advance the features and security of the data collection system and website, and improve the data analysis and reporting.

Upon award notification for this project, Dr. Stéphane Baldi, Vice President for Research and Evaluation at Trewon said: “We are excited to be able to bring Trewon’s staff expertise with teacher preparation programs and data quality and analytics to support OPE. The data collected through this program have vast implication for education policy, and improving their quality and usefulness is of critical importance.”

Saumil Shah, Trewon’s VP and Title II’s program lead, said, “We are excited to be part of a program that seeks to increase student academic achievement through improving the effectiveness of teachers, principals and other school leaders. It serves the very important mission of providing low-income and minority students greater access to effective education.”
